Monkeying Around

In late September, we took a Green Buildings Tour which focused much of its attention on ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units). We were inspired by the creativity, use of reclaimed materials and aesthetics of the buildings we toured.

Month Nine

If Miriam could vote, she would vote for mama, or dada.
It would be a tight race.

She's 9 months old, folks.
Tangible evidence of evolution has begun.

For example, she's found out how to remove objects from various places

(Pride or mischief...or both?)

She's found her voice and her mouth

She makes her own kind of music

She's a welcome addition at big girl birthday parties
(Happy 30th, Elizabeth H.!)

Wonder Tim is evolving too; he started demo on our garage project!
No rest for the weary.

Late Summer

In mid-August, Tim's sister, Maureen, and her family came from Sacramento for a visit. It was super fun. We did all kinds of cool stuff: took the MAX to Washington Park, BBQed in various backyards, took Owen to an amazing indoor bike park, spent a splendid sunny day at the coast, and of course ate and drank to our hearts' content.

After six days of fun in the Oregon sun with the Purks, we all trekked up to Seattle for a night, then to Tacoma for the lovely wedding of Tim's cousin Katie. It was followed the next day by a nice Ratty (Tim's mom's family) reunion at the Tacoma Lawn Club. Miriam processed lots of new faces.

Angela came back to Portland with us for a mellow and pleasant visit.

She's a natural at the Aunty bit

Ang made us delicious roasted vegetable sandwiches with watermelon salad and grilled fruit for dessert

Angela departed and Cliff Lee's family arrived for Cliff's graduation from the Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM). We had a Celebration BBQ which included grilled octopus, whole clams, eggplant, Korean short ribs, garden fresh caprese salad, chips and salsa, fresh fruit, and PIE! It was a full day of eating and it was awesome.

Yay, Cliff...you did it

Believe it or not, Miriam did have some time to herself at home to work on her new tricks.
